I am sorry for the slow posting. I am getting my hands dirty.
A project of a 80 x 120 cm oilpainting is spreading light in my studio. Only an early impression
of wet, wet paint on Belgian linen.

Hardship in the midst of winter - new painting on the way

A new painting is on the way. On of the quickest and most honest paintings, I ever did make.

It is a tribute to the force we find within in times of hardship, and at no time else.

Around the turn of the year I had to make hard decisions.I was forced into them, as we sometimes are.

And sincerely said: I am tired beyond measures, but still working.

Looking forward to show you this one but since oil paintings dry slowly..only the central figure is all done..

And of course my sympathy to others who crawled more than jumped into the new year.

This is one of my recent paintings...I find architecture interesting....You probably already noticed:-)

Buildings are sculptures in my world..large and out in every kinds of weather. I enjoy when the sun comes out after a heavy shower of rain..everything wet and glistening...Air crisp and clean. In Denmark buildings can be in bright colours but also so red because of the red bricks we often use here... 

And this is one of my oilpaintings ...It was a mess to make this one..but well worth it.......

"Injury" and "Thoughts on happiness"

These two paintings...

"Injury" is serious....and "Thoughts on happiness" is as well..

I always believed that beauty is everywhere..also in the periods of our lifes that is not very pleasant. If I cannot find it...I will make it. I don´t believe in wearing a happy smile at all times, but in enjoying the smiles that come my way...from myself and other people.

Survival is not  for the fittest..it is for the ones that try to make the best of the situation...against all odds.. feel bad but get up again when you can.

I remember making "Thoughts on happiness" after reading about the amount of "happy-drugs" that are consumed in Denmark alone.It is crazy indeed when these drugs are given to people that are not really ill but just sad. Let us treat each other well so that we don´t need  too much of that "junk"
 The little figure in the painting has a resemblance with the devil...He can give life a kick but is still a devil.

Injury was made as a reaction to a severe back injury....It wasn´t happy times, but the painting is
a good result of bad times...Do I need to say that I feel fine about this one as well...:-)

"Darkness & Light". Exhibited at "Contrasts" in 2011.

I must admit: I would like my art to end up with good people. This one did.
Even though it´s painted as a city on a hillside. I find it rather amusing that people see their pills
in it. It hangs at a pharmacy..

Dragon

 

Detail of "Dragon"...I painted a rather large picture (80 x 80 cm) a short while ago ..Until the end of february 2012 I´m showing it at our gallery in my artists association: Kunstspiralen. (www.kunstspiralen.dk). After that it will be moving to another place ..Art must be shown;-)

I have a fondness for mythology.And at the time I have several projects which are inspirede by some of the tales, that I was told as a child or read about at the time or later in my life. Even in modern times those dragons, squids, ravens or snakes mean something to many of us. I hope I will be spared of a world where children are told of computers or mobile phones..
